This is the Alaskan arm of study- 2 of the LOTUS (Long Term follow up improves clinical care and respiratory outcomes for indigenous children) Study.
This project is an extension of the International Bronchiectasis Observational Study (BOS) in Alaska Native Children.
Among Indigenous children, the prevalence of bronchiectasis remains high. This study will help improve our understanding of predictors relating to clinical outcomes of children with bronchiectasis. This long term follow-up will also provide important clinical data on the optimal duration of maintenance treatment with the antibiotic azithromycin, as well as the clinical importance of the presence of antibiotic resistant pathogens on a patient level.
